Simon V. Potter, Ad. E., has advised and represented importers and exporters around the world in relation to Canadian law regarding customs and trade remedies such as antidumping and countervailing duty cases.
He has also advised in relation to trade agreements of various kinds and in relation to WTO obligations and recourses. He has on a number of occasions been retained by industry associations to advise and represent them and their members as regards trade cases in Canada or the United States.
He has sat on three trade-dispute panels formed under the NAFTA.
Importers of product into Canada have benefited from his considered advice regarding the appropriate tariff or other treatment of the imported goods.
Canadian exporters have also benefited from his services in the retention or instruction of counsel in the United States and other jurisdictions, and in the formulation of strategies for overcoming obstacles to their exports.
Simon is a frequent speaker at conferences throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico, as well as other countries.
